Emirates teams up with Airbus to optimize fleet operations
Emirates and Airbus have joined forces in a strategic partnership to enhance aircraft maintenance and fleet management.

The agreement, signed by Emirates Engineering chief Ahmed Safa and Airbus Vice President of Customer Services for Africa and the Middle East, Laurent Negre, will see Emirates implement Airbus’s Skywise Fleet Performance+ (S.FP+) solution and Core X3 analytics platform. This move underscores Emirates' dedication to operational excellence and passenger safety.
The integration of S.FP+ will bolster the reliability of Emirates' Airbus A380 and A350 fleets. By using real-time data, the airline will gain more effective insights into aircraft health and performance. This will allow them to spot potential problems mid-flight and schedule maintenance during routine turnarounds. The result will be less unscheduled downtime and more time in the air, leading to greater operational efficiency.
“Emirates is always looking for cutting-edge technologies that improve operational reliability, minimize unexpected maintenance, and keep our aircraft operating at peak performance,” said Ahmed Safa, Head of Emirates Engineering. “Integrating Skywise Fleet Performance+ allows us to move from traditional maintenance to precision-led processes, directly benefiting our customers by maximizing our time in the skies.”
Laurent Negre, Airbus’s VP of Customer Services for Africa and the Middle East, commented, “We’re thrilled to expand our partnership with Emirates. Adopting Skywise Fleet Performance+ and Core X3 will dramatically improve fleet performance, reduce downtime, and streamline operations, ultimately providing passengers with better service reliability.”
The Skywise platform provides automated pre-flight monitoring of essential systems and cabin conditions, using advanced analytics. It integrates Aircraft Condition Monitoring System (ACMS) data, delivering real-time diagnostics, predictive alerts, and a comprehensive overview of Emirates’ Airbus A380 and A350 fleets. The addition of the Core X3 analytics platform will simplify data management and provide unified, real-time insights for better team coordination.
Emirates Engineering has consistently been a leader in using aviation analytics to maximize aircraft availability and cut operational costs. The airline is also investigating other digital technologies to further improve maintenance, including drone inspections and the potential use of virtual and augmented reality for maintenance procedures.
