Hormona Lisa saved: The shocking twist of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17

Following last week's premiere and a round of electrifying talent show performances, the second episode saw the remaining queens take to the Main Stage. While many impressed, Hormona Lisa’s stand-up comedy act didn’t land well, leading her fellow contestants to rank her the lowest in the Rate-a-Queen voting.

This put Hormona in a high-stakes lip-sync battle against Acacia Forgot, last week's lowest-ranked queen. Though Hormona lost the duel, her journey wasn't over just yet.

As revealed before the season began, season 17 introduces a new twist: eliminated queens have a chance to return by pulling one of 10 random levers. Most lead to elimination, but two trigger a dramatic moment where judge Michelle Visage is dunked into a tank of water called the "Badonka Dunk Tank." If a queen pulls the right lever, she earns a second chance to stay in the competition.

Approaching the levers, Hormona took her time inspecting each one—adding a theatrical flair by licking one of the handles—before settling on lever No. 7. Moments later, the set erupted as Visage plunged into the tank, marking the first successful use of the twist.

“Wow, conDRAGulations! You are free to slay another day, Hormona Lisa!” RuPaul announced, leaving the room in shock and delight. As a bonus for her victory, Hormona also won a trip to Las Vegas.

In an emotional confessional, Hormona reflected on her unexpected redemption. “I’m just so full of joy and relief. I thank God, I thank Ru, I thank my phalanges for pulling that lever. I’m so happy to still be here!”

Not everyone shared her enthusiasm. Acacia Forgot, now officially eliminated, expressed her frustration in her own confessional. “Hormona is saved, and I am over it. I didn’t work this hard for no one to go home.”

The episode ended with a teaser for next week, where tensions rise as the queens reconvene to discuss the Rate-a-Queen twist. One clip shows Sam Star confronting Lydia B Kollins over her voting decisions, hinting at brewing drama in the Werk Room.

With twists, turns, and waterworks, RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 is proving to be a game-changer—literally. Fans will have to tune in next week to see how the queens navigate the aftermath of this shocking moment.
