Ryanair soars to new heights with Madeira route and expanded Shannon service

This expansion offers travelers more options than before. The enhanced services include flights to and from Alicante, Edinburgh, Faro, Kaunas, Krakow, Malaga, Porto, and Reus. The airline has also added capacity to the La Rochelle route in April, coinciding with the Munster v La Rochelle European Rugby Champions Cup match on April 5th.

Mary Considine, CEO of The Shannon Airport Group, welcomed the new schedule. “We are delighted with Ryanair’s Summer 2025 schedule at Shannon Airport. The Madeira route and increased frequency on eight other routes represent a 17% growth in Ryanair traffic at Shannon. This is a significant step forward for the airport as we enhance travel choices for our passengers.”

Shannon Airport has experienced growth, serving over 2.1 million passengers in the past year. Considine also noted the positive impact of the draft National Programme for Government, which prioritizes regional airports. “We are optimistic about the government’s commitment to regional airports and look forward to continued collaboration with Ryanair to support local communities and contribute to regional economic growth,” she added.

Dara Brady, Ryanair’s Chief Marketing Officer, also expressed enthusiasm for the new summer schedule. “We’re pleased to launch our Summer 2025 schedule from Shannon, with the new Madeira route operating four times a week from March 30. We’ve also added flights on eight other routes, providing more convenience and choice for our mid-west customers. This schedule is part of a €300m investment in three Shannon-based aircraft and will support over 1,500 local jobs.”

Brady urged the Irish government to extend the 2026-2030 Regional Airports Programme to further support growth at regional airports, enabling airlines like Ryanair to continue expanding. “We want to see regional airports grow without being penalized for doing so,” he said.

To celebrate, Ryanair has announced a seat sale with fares from €24.99, available atwww.ryanair.com.

The Summer 2025 routes to/from Shannon include destinations such as Alicante, Gran Canaria, Malta, Barcelona, Kaunas, Krakow, and more, making Ryanair’s service to and from Shannon among the most comprehensive in the region.
