Vinícius Jr. diversifies portfolio with Portuguese football club investment
Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr is reportedly considering buying a football club in the Portuguese second division, according to sources in Spain.

Vinicius is seriously considering owning a team in the Portuguese second division. ESPN reports the Brazilian forward wants to diversify his investment portfolio and pave a new path for his career after retirement.
This news comes as Vinicius is with the Royal team for the Spanish Super Cup in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. After Los Blancos' 3-0 win over Mallorca in the semi-final, the 24-year-old star has shown ambitions beyond the pitch by investing in football, a path chosen by many top players recently.
The Portuguese second division - with 18 teams, including reserve teams of Benfica and Porto, is attracting the attention of investors. Notably, one of the teams in this league - Portimonense, is already owned by Brazilian businessman Rodiney Sampaio. This further motivates Vinicius to consider investing in a team here, not only for business reasons but also to build influence in Europe.
Vinicius is not the first player to want to own a team. Famous French midfielder N'Golo Kanté recently acquired Royal Excelsior Virton in the Belgian third division. Meanwhile, Vinicius' Real Madrid teammate - Kylian Mbappe, also became a major shareholder of Caen club in the French second division in July last year. Both of these players show a clear direction in expanding their careers off the field.
Vinicius earns between 20-30 million euros per year thanks to his contract at Real Madrid and lucrative sponsorship deals, making him fully capable of carrying out this deal. He is currently the face of Nike, with a contract valid until 2028. The new deal with Nike after a legal dispute has cemented Vinicius' position as one of the brand's leading ambassadors in football.

In addition to investing in football, Vinicius also focuses on charitable activities through the Vini Jr Institute in Brazil. This fund focuses on supporting education and development for children, demonstrating the social responsibility of the Brazilian player.
Although this deal is still under consideration, it is clear that Vinicius Jr is aiming to expand his influence and prepare for a different career after retirement. With support from Nike, Roc Nation and huge income sources, the Brazilian star can be completely successful if he owns a team in the Portuguese second division.
If all goes well, this will be a turning point not only in Vinicius' career but also an opportunity for him to assert his name both on and off the field.
